Dr. Peter L. Thompson has a sincere love for his profession. He loves the incredibly positive impact he can have on a person’s life. He loves being able to recreate brilliance out of ashes. He loves the effect a beautiful smile and healthy mouth manifest in someone’s life.
“I have been richly blessed with a wonderful wife, three healthy, vibrant children and the ability to practice a profession that I have passion about. I live by the golden rule, and I have a similar philosophy about dentistry. I will put nothing in your mouth that I wouldn’t want in mine. In my mouth, I want to embrace technology, esthetics and health-promoting materials. I will do nothing but the same for you.” – Dr. T
Dr. Thompson grew up in Puyallup, Washington and was transplanted to Eastern New Mexico with the Military. He decided to pursue his college education at Eastern New Mexico University and graduated in ’94 Summa Cum Laude. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Texas with his DDS degree. Several of his mentors in life told him that graduation from dental school was the beginning of his education, not the end. He has taken this to heart and has completed over 1500 hours of continuing education to sharpen his skills and provide the absolute best for his patients.
He has focused his education on dental implants, sedation dentistry, TMJD (temporomandibular joint disorder), Smile Design, Full Mouth Reconstruction, Orthodontics, CEREC, and Porcelain Bonding. He is a Preferred Graduate from the world-renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.
My name is Victor Matthew Pacheco — I go by Matthew — and I dreamed of being a dentist since 5th grade. My undergraduate work was at Eastern New Mexico University, where I met Dr. Thompson and he became my mentor. I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine from Midwestern University. When I heard that Dr. Thompson was hiring an associate, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to learn, grow, and practice exceptional dentistry. Maintaining good oral health has a great positive effect—the impact we make on patients’ lives is very rewarding. I love dentistry; it’s an amazing career.
I’ve been married to my best friend, Desirae, since 2014 and we are expecting our first child in December. We’re excited to be back in Eastern New Mexico serving the community.
Peter and I met in college and have been married since 1994. We have three delightful children that we adore. Just ask us about them, we’d be glad to tell you of their latest antics! I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Eastern New Mexico University and received a master’s degree from the University of Houston in speech pathology.
Even though I began my professional career in a very different field, I LOVE working with our team. It really has become my passion! I have had the opportunity to learn at the feet of some of the most influential dentists of our time and it is so exciting to learn about the advanced techniques, fabulous materials and mind boggling technology that is available to make mouths healthy and beautiful.
It is especially thrilling to know that Portales has an exceptionally trained dentist who is able to provide these things to the public without having to travel a great distance. It’s just great that you can get the best right here without the inconvenience and expense of driving or flying back and forth to a big city.
Please call the office so that we may assist you in taking the first step toward the smile of your dreams. I guarantee that you will get a friendly and helpful team member who will be glad to share with you their experience and expertise when answering your questions.

I took a Dental Assisting course in Lubbock, Texas at Texas Careers. I have been certified in dental assisting since 2008. I joined Dr. Peter Thompson’s team in 2013 and I absolutely love it. Seeing the complete mouth restorations we can do in just one visit absolutely amazes me.
A beautiful smile can make the biggest change in someone’s life, and I love to help make that happen! I can honestly say I have found my passion, and that’s helping others, and in our office, we make that possible!

I crossed over from the medical field to dental in 2007 and found that the dental field is my calling. I really enjoy learning new things and in this position, I am acquiring new information all the time. Being a part of patient interaction and transformation is so rewarding and I look forward to it every day.
I have been a hygienist since 1998. I graduated from Amarillo College Dental Hygiene School and continue to improve my skills by attending several hours of postgraduate education each year. I enjoy working with my patients to help them develop lifestyle behaviors that help them keep their teeth healthy for their lifetime.
I work to ensure that each patient gets both comfortable, quality treatment and a thorough understanding of their dental health. I have four wonderful children, Luke, Catherine, Jacob, and John. In my free time, I enjoy attending their many ball games, coaching soccer, exercising, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Hello, my name is Flora. I started my dental career in 1998. I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Thompson since April of 2001. I am married to a wonderful man and have two beautiful daughters.
I love the challenge of dentistry and the ability we have to be able to completely change people’s lives. When we give someone a new smile or help them beat their fear of dentistry and I can see the thankfulness and relief in their eyes that is what I love the most. I personally invite you and welcome you to our office. You will leave with a smile and a new outlook on dentistry.
My name is Ashlee. I have been happily married to Herson Corcio since August 2015. I grew up in Portales, NM and I graduated from Floyd NM. I went to Clovis Community College for cosmetology in which I have a degree.
I do enjoy cosmetology but realized it is not something I wish to do for the rest of my life so I started my dental career in 2014. I absolutely love it! I am so excited and blessed to be working for the Thompson Team. I enjoy making people smile and helping people. I look forward to learning and growing here at Dr. Thompson’s office.
Hello, my name is Dakota. I am originally from Oklahoma and now reside in Clovis as a proud military wife who has been married to my high school sweetheart for 10 years. No real babies yet, but we do have a fur child that we love to death and spoil rotten.
I initially began my career as a hygiene assistant, and although I enjoyed that, I wanted more. I graduated from Spokane Community College in Spokane, WA in 2016 and have been a certified dental assistant since 2017.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to work for Dr. Thompson. The thing I love most about working at Thompson Smiles is the ability to drastically improve people’s lives. We can completely change how a person sees themselves and make them actually want to smile again – and that is the best feeling!
